Goals Big Enough

We all have hobbies, activities, or something that we all are passionate about. We feel happy and content when we indulge in them. Don’t we? Time flies when we spend time on these activities. But sometimes a certain hobby or passion can prevent you from achieving even bigger goals; the ones that could change your life forever, that hold greater importance in our lives. Very seldom we stop & think to take a look at its importance – is it helping you to get closer or farther from your bigger goals? We all have dreams & aspirations but having dreams isn’t enough; to make them come true, you’ve got to walk the talk. And that walk can be real tough. Most of the times we all (claim to) know what we need to do in order to achieve our goals but the truth is; something always holds us back from achieving them. You’ve probably experienced the same problem. You had a goal, you knew what had to be done but you couldn’t manage to do it.

Don’t worry, it happens to us all!!

In fact, a few common mistakes keep most people from reaching their goals. Make them and you’ll sabotage your progress time and time again. Learn to handle  them and  you’ll be able to achieve anything.

Here’s how to understand  it all and reach you goals.

# Bigger goals first: Prioritize

As you can understand from that title, you need to focus on bigger goals of your life first. When there is a lot going on obviously one can’t concentrate. So try and put brakes (at least for a while) on things which are not going to give you bigger returns. Recognize them, and make sure that they don’t distract you from achieving your bigger goals.

# Set firm limits and feasible goals

It’s also important to remember to set goals that are achievable. There are some things that become impossible as we get older or simply based on talent. Don’t make the same mistake. Don’t be over-ambitious in the goals and limits that you set for yourself. It’s much better to make steady, consistent progress towards one goal than to throw yourself  all at once-only to end up quitting .

# Don’t expect too much, too soon

I used to expect too much, too soon, and then easily would become too tired to do it further.   Always think long-term. We want instant results. We want it all and want it now.  Remember anything worth having, takes time and effort. There will be bad days but there will be good days as well. A moderate effort is always better. Remember “the smaller you start, the farther you’ll get”.

# Do it now

We often wait for the perfect moment, feeling or opportunity to take action. But since life is inherently imperfect, waiting for right time might take forever. The right time might never come, but that’s no reason to do nothing. If there’s a goal to be achieved, don’t wait: the best time for action is always now.

# Don’t be too hard on yourself

I was the kind of person who would try to do everything at once and feel upset at every little mistake. Whenever we do something wrong, we punish ourselves.  And once you start thinking this way, it’s easy to make more bad decisions. Remember everyone makes mistakes. Never let a few screw ups drive you into negative thinking.

# Resilience

Always keep in mind that no matter however good you are, you will fail sometimes and have some bad days. The key is to not freak out. Just accept it simply and move forward. Who doesn’t has bad days!! Try to make best out of it. Because if you don’t accept whatever the situation is; you just make them worse.
